compressor to fan gasket? 200 1986

i found a decent amount of oil thrown up inside the little cave created by the radiator fan where it meets the compressor. is there a seal at this joint or is it probably coming from somewhere else? i would have taken the fan off to look, but i was afraid it was a single use gasket and i'd be waiting on mail order to drive her around again. any tips on where to look for the leak if its not just a seal there?
