Well I still have the volvos and I might even keep both, but the dodge caravan is here. I just couldn't resist the deal, I got it at dealer buy-back price (off a friend).
I am going to bitch already.
I knew I needed to change the oil pan (dented and leaky bolt and major rust o nthe front) so I bought the replacement.
Expecting a simple 30 minute job, I was wrong:
Looks like I need to remove the starter motor, as well as the brackets that attached the bottom end of the block to the bellhousing of the tranny, and maybe the front bottom engine mount, all to gain access to the bolts. Some of the bolts are "enclosed" into the bellhousing, so hopfulyl there is nothing else to mention that I have not seen yet. Rediculous, just to change an oil pan. The bolts look so badly rusted I thik I should have spares on hand.
Also, there is no room to work on this car. I jack it up on stands and still could barely fit under there.
I guess I will drive it wit hthe same three spark plugs on the firewall side until they no longer spark.
No wonder these things have a limited life span.
Long live the volvos (and other servicable vehicles).
