Long cranking to start 745ti 700 1987

Hi all,
I have an issue with my new Brick, an 87 745ti. When starting cold it will turn over 2x as long as any of my other Bricks and sometimes stumble on firing and once in a while stall. After stalling I barely turn it over and it is running fine. Sometimes when warm it will turn over twice as long and start and not stumble or stall. I also have a small fuel leak running down the back of the gas tank but I haven't looked at the top of the tank yet. I will tonight. I imagine the leak and the long cranking thing are related. I did a search and found several ideas, but no resolutions were posted. Does this car have a check valve at the downside of the primary fuel pump? If this is letting the pressure in the fuel system drop it could cause the long cranking starts as pressure builds up, but, would have nothing to do with the leak. What do you all think?
thanks,
Palmer
