vehicle not starting 900 1992

I have a 92 940 that recently developed a starting problem. After driving for 4 hours, we took a break and then tried to restart the car. It started very rough but did start. We then drove 4 hours home and shut it off. It has not started and continue to run since then. I have changed the fuel filter, pressure regulator on the fuel rail, plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, removed the exhaust system (disconnected the cat. conv. back). The only success I had was when I replaced the pressure regulator, the car ran for approx. 20 min. it then started to die every time I hit the accelerator. Any solutions?
