I used wrong ATF! 700 1987

For some reason, I thought my 1987 760 wagon used Type F automatic transmission fluid. The car had was low on fluid when I bought it about two weeks ago and seems to have a small transmission leak. So far I have put a little more than 2 quarts of Type F fluid in the car.

Is my transmission now ruined? Should I just switch to Dexron III and hope for the best? I can't have the leak repaired for about another week. What is the difference between Dexron and Type F ATF? I think my transmission is the AW-71, but I have not verified this.

Thanks
