Flywheel installation 700

Currently installing flywheel in 88 turbo M46.
Haynes manual calls for replacing bolts with new and applying threadlocker on the threads.
Is this necessary.
Local volvo dealer advised me to reuse old bolts with no thread locker.
Comments would be appreciated.
