'72 164: Creaky clutch? 140-160

My standard shift '72 164E has always had a stiff clutch (I'm told this is normal) but lately it's started to get noisy--not squealing or screeching, but creaking like an old door. I've lubed up what I can under the dash, and it's still creaking. I haven't noticed any clutch problems besides the noise; it's not slipping or anything. Is this "creaking" a sign of something ominous on the horizon? The car has 62K original miles and the clutch and tranny are original...
