240 Alternator vs. 7 and 9 series 200

Do the higher amperage 7 and 9 series Volvo alternators have a shorter life span that the 240 lower output alternator? I hardly see any 240's in the wrecking yards with replaced alternators but I see a lot of 7 and 9 series with replaced altrnators all the time.
