Just wondering, if Irv Gordon could have bought a 240 instead of an 1800 in 1966, would he have been able to put 2.3 million miles, or whatever the latest number is, on it and have the 240 wind up in the some condition (whatever that may be) as his 1800? Of course, it assumes the same equipment or lack thereof, no a/c or PS. manual tranny, & performed the same maintenance & travelled the some routes. There are many differences between the two vehicles, the 1800s, 122s & 140s had a beefier suspension, recirculating ball steering vs. rack & pinion, the B18 had an iron head vs. aluminum alloy & pushrods vs. OHC, to name a few. But the 240 is a better representation of the Volvo character than the 1800. Just wondering. What do you think?
