as requested, sunroof track removal without dropping pan or headliner 700

Posted by request, it seems as though I wasn't very clear on my "finally fixed my sunroof" post. Hopefully I got it down to simple and clear, but if not, perhaps some good folk here will assist.

As per the FAQ:

raise rear of sunroof (only one side was working on my last one). Remove the two clips holding sunroof headliner flap to sunroof (I removed the one on the side that was working, and used a bent coat hanger to remove the other side).

slide the sunroof headliner back into the track (back into headliner to reveal underside of sunroof, but not all the way, leave a little sticking out. You need to push pretty hard to get it to release sometimes.

remove the 4 bolts (phillips head) holding the back of the sunroof to the mechanism.

lift the rear of the sunroof by hand, enough to remove the front 4 bolts holding the front of the sunroof to the hinges.

Lift off the sunroof.

Remove crank or motor (if crank, you can leave the gear box, but be careful not to scratch the paint on your roof!).

Remove the 6 six screws holding the worm gear cover / wind deflector base to the pan.

Lift the worm gear cover / deflector base off the car. After lifting it a bit, you'll notice that the point where the deflector 'arms' and the deflector it's self hinge, are slotted. Turn the wind deflector in your hand to where the deflector can be removed from the 'arms'.

NOTE: PUT THE SCREWS BACK IN THE SAME HOLES THAT THEY CAME OUT OF ON THE WORM GEAR COVER when you lay it aside!!!! that way you know what screw goes where when it's time to reassemble.

Remove the 10 phillips screws holding the track to the pan. there are 5 on each side. 3 on top of the track, and 2 on the lower part (you'll see the cut outs).

have a friend ready to help.

BOTH of you lift up the track / worm gear assembly at the same time from either side (as you lift, pull the wind deflector 'arms' from under the track). lift evenly and pull forward evenly out the top of the sunroof opening.

Congratulations, you've just removed your sunroof track and all, WITHOUT messing with your headliner or your pan!

Installation is the reverse, but don't forget to put the wind deflector 'arms' back into position before bolting the track back down!
