The unfortunate failure of my lifters has me worrying about installing my new cam and lifters in my B20.
In the meantime I dismantled my entire engine and have found the bearings and crank, oilpump, pistons ... to be still in very good condition. Which is a big relief.

A closer look of the cam revealed that the it was only pitted at the lobe tips, the ramps were fine. The guy at the metallurgics lab did some testing on my lifters and came to the conclusion that the hardening proces hadn't been done right. That is why chunks came out. That is all very well, but how can I be sure my new lifters are properly heat treated, just measuring hardness doesn't give the answer, the old ones were hard enough but the microstructure wasn't like it should be.

pretty expensive stuff, but a decent new cam and lifters and freshening up the block costs a lot more.
Would some kind of chevy lifters fit the B20 ? As I understood the SBC lifters in combination with different length pushrods could be use in the B20, or am I missing something ?
