960 Power seat... PS moves forward, not backwards. What can I do?................. 900 1997

Just got a 1997 965.

Passenger power seat problem. Functions all work except moving it to the rear.

It moves forwards, not back. When I push the "switch" to move it back, I hear no motor noise.

Is there a way to

(1) Temporarily disengage the drive gear and move the seat back?

(2) Check to see if the switch is the problem. How to remove it to check?
