Engine starts & idles 3 to 5 seconds and stalls. Fuel pump? 700 1988

The engine on my 88 744 will start and idle for 3 to 5 seconds and stall. Giving it the throttle makes it die instantly. Could this be the fuel pump going out or a relay?
