pop-out window rubber removal 120-130

Is there a trick to removing the 2-door, rear side pop-out window rubber? I've got some rust in the bottom rear corners I want to treat and I don't want to damage the rubber getting it out (seems really in there). Is there a specific place to start pulling it out from, etc. Tricks or tips?
