intake/exhaust manifold seperating? 140-160

Hi,
I am about to pull my carbs and manifold off of my '72 142. I'm looking for a vacuum leak so I am replacing all of the gaskets and checking for cracks in the siamese intake/exhaust manifold. If I have tocut the manifold to seperate the two, (I have an aluminum intake if I need it)is their a best spot to cut it? ...and what is the best tool to use?
I haven't looked at it yet, so this question may be a bit premature, but I figured I should get involved with as much info as possible.
Thanks,
CU
