Could my car be haunted? It won't let me sell it. After owning it for 7 years, I have tried at least ten times to put my 940 up for sale. It was a wonderful car until about 165,000 miles. Every time I would get it cleaned up to park it for sale, something would go wrong. I have replaced: turbo, radiator, heater core, water pump, engine seals, timing belt, induction hoses, and air mass meter within the last 3-4000 miles. Last time I cleaned the engine, the car ran fine for 20-30 miles, then suddenly, it began to cut out and sputter as I would make a turn. My first thought was a wet distributor cap. So, I took it off and dried it cleaned the contact points and the rotor. No, success. I replaced the plug wires, coil, cap and rotor. Still, no success. I disconnected the Air Mass Meter thinking perhaps it was the problem. That was not it. The car will run at all rpm ranges, but it cuts out as if the electrical current is being shorted in the ignition system. I have washed my engine several times in the past without incurring this problem. Could I have finally gotten some other electrical device wet, causing the intermittent short? If it were a timing issue, could it run fine, then suddenly cut out, then run fine again. I am stumped. Can anyone offer some insight. Thanks in advance.
