Hi Volvo people,
I am in a precarious situation with the Volvo.
It's a 86 740 Turbo wagon B230FT. -Garrett type
AW 71 AT with a 1031 axle (I think) with 3.73 gears in it.
I am trying to replace the outer dust covers at the ends of the axle shafts and I need to remove the axle shafts to replace them.
I have the pumpkin cover off and I am looking from the rear of the ar forward at the Ring gear. To the right (passenger side) as I look into the housing there is a ring that looks like a tone producer that is used for the speed sensor pickup as the axle rotates.
There are 2 "straps type" clamps that look to be holding in the inner axle bearings (one left one right).
so... my question is, after I pull the strap clamps off "How do I remove the axle shafts ? What holds them on ?
Thanks in advance.
Al
