I forgot something in my "...short block needed" post the other day. In the session just prior to letting the smoke out of the block, I had a lap that was almost half a second quicker than the current ITB record at Hallett. The official record is held by a VW Golf, set just this past April at 1:32.937.
My crew had gotten me at 1:32.444 on a hand held stopwatch on the last hot lap, and were beside themselves when I came in after the cool down lap. Thinking it may have been operator error, we anxiously awaited the AMB transponder system times for the session. Yessir... 1:32.506!!!!
Of course this was in no way "official", since it was not an SCCA sanctioned event. But we're looking forward to getting our SCCA license (late this year, next spring at the latest) and putting the ITB lap record in the Volvo camp.
