extreme vibration when braking 97 740 wagon 700

Good morning, I have an 87 volvo 740 wagon.When braking the entire car shakes so badly it feels like it will self destruct at any second. The front brake rotors have been replaced and the calipers seem to be okay. Any suggestions would be great.The shaking also produces a lot of noise . thanks for your help.
