Combustion Chamber Carbon Removal using water - any experiences / reccommendations ? 700 1985

Hi All,

1985 740 GLE Non-Turbo:

I'll be installing a new cat and O2 sensor soon due to a failed NOx test, so thought this would be a good time to attempt a cleaning of my combustion chamber via the water-based technique mentioned in the FAQs. Any carbon/crud dislodged wont clog up my new cat/O2 sensor.

Before I do this, however - I'd love to hear from those who have already done this. What has your experience been ? Did it improve the performance of your engines ?

The techinique also mentions using Sea Foam Carbon Cleaner or GM Top End Cleaner as a follow-up. Has anyone actually done this ?

Thanks for your responses !

Noel
