I have always liked and recommended Volvos to all my family and friends (both of them).
My question is easy: Now that Volvo Cars is a division of Ford Motors, do you think future Ford decisions will cause Volvo to lose its good engineering characteristics, drive for safety and long lasting automobiles; Our home auto manufactures are so driven by the profit incentive that often engineering takes a backseat to marketing--the answer to American car engineering is may times to add more money to advertising instead of research and development--witness the old push rod engines that are still around. While F1 is an innovative motor sport, NASA car is till stuck with carbs and restrictor plates.
Is there a wonder why we are losing market share? And offering $5,000 rebates on our Huge SUVs. Do you think Ford and GMC will ever get it? I worry that our markets are leaving the county because of the greed of it all. How do you think this will affest Volvos—Do you think Ford will install a push rod V8 in the Volvo SUV? Ugh!
