So here’s my question. I’m redoing my 88 240GL front end. After researching, I’ve purchased 4 Bilstein Heavy Duty struts and shocks. I found out that I need strut spacers and strut mounts. When reading about the different mounts that are out there I found that the Scan Tech’s were the problem children, having an unusually high failure and replacement rate after relatively lower miles on others vehicles. I don’t want to have to tear it apart again because of cheap parts or defective parts. I’ll be replacing all the bushings, tie rod ends and ball joints also at the same time. I need everyone’s advice, findings, experience. My core belief is to spend the money on the parts up front thus eliminating the need for future piece-meal tear downs and rebuilds. I’d rather spend my time on 1 major rebuild than countless weekends on numerous minors. Thanks in advance! I need everyone’s advice, findings, experience on the mentioned items.

Reason on decision: Bilstein HD’s were the most expensive but also showed to have given the best results to others for what I was looking for, a stiffer ride, lifetime warranty. Other manufactures were a bit cheaper but I didn’t want a softer feel and the warrantees were questionable. The distributor shipped immediately and product price was the best I found after a in-depth search.

NEED: Best manufacturer and distributor for strut mounts, bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints and if you went with polyurethane and what were the results.
