plastic floor trays vs rubber ones 200

I've had a set of plastic floor tray mats in my 1990 for the last 16 years. They work great for keeping snow,sand and dirt off the carpet. I saw a set for sale that were the same design only claimed to be rubber vs plastic. Does anyone have experience with the 2 different materials? It seems like the rubber might deaden road noise a bit more.
