red 740T exhaust manfild 700

HI.
is this normal ?

When I open my hood after driving at night, and look at the turbo and exhaust manfiold things there are glowing red hot ! GLOWING ..really glowing red, red hot.
the middle of the ehxuast manifold and the exhaust section of the turbo.
Even if cruising normally at light throttle, it does this.

Does this with my 'old' engine, and with my 'new' used engine.

I just swapped engines.
my old engine seemed to run very lean...very white spark plugs...figured that might be it.

the new used engine, does it just as 'well'....bright red hot.
I figure the main factors in running lean would be the ecu temp sensor on the head ( different one with new engine ) ,
the AMM ...tried a different one of the three I have for this car
and the ECU...didn't swap that yet.

I also havn't turned the mixture screw on the AMM yet much...did a little on the first engine and AMM but it didn't seem to matter, tho I didn't go full clockwise ( I think clockwise is rich ) .

ideas, thoughts ?
thnx
scott
