The wifemobile's Garrett turbo started losing oil through the compressor end the other week. (silly previous owner, Pennzoil killed it in less than 18 months!) A rebuild kit was eventually tracked down, and (knock on wood) it'll all be bolted back in the car and running fine tomorrow.
In any case, it seems Garrett no longer produces this turbocharger. Rebuilds have proven to be quite elusive. What I'm wondering; does the Mitsubishi version come anywhere near bolting in? I didn't feel like blowing the immense piles of cash required to test fit one. I did notice that the bolt spacing on the manifold will match a T3 turbine housing, so there is an alternative if the turbo's not rebuildable next time. (hopefully many years down the road!)
Just curious, in case this comes up again, for myself or for others reading here.
