I have a couple small quirks going on with my 93 Volvo 240 that I have been unable to resolve.
First off, I seem to have an oil leak (if you are looking at the engine) on the right side of the block somewhere. I see wetness around where the dipstick meets the engine block and that oil runs down the side and then drips down from the bottom of the block. I recently changed my valve cover seal, and for a while it was leaking toward the back of cover even with the new seal, but I added a washer to the leaky spot and it stopped leaking. As far as I can tell, there is no oil leaking around this cover so I have pretty much ruled that out as a cause. Its really hard to see what else could be causing the issue due to the throttle body and intake stuff being right there. I know I will have to remove that stuff to get to whatever it is, but I was hoping for more insight on what it might be before I start the plan of attack. On an oil sidenote, I have been unable to locate the flametrap on this car. I had an old 83 244 gl and I found that one, but this engine is slightly different.
The second issue I have been having is when I am traveling 55 and above if I hit a medium sized bump there is a "whack" from somewhere on the right side of the dashboard area. I took off the console with the ash tray, and also took out the glovebox but I couldnt find anything that would be causing that sort of noise. It has a metallic sound to it at times. I had the radio replaced almost two years ago, but the cd player does not skip when the sound happens so I am hard pressed that it is the radio banging on something. let me know if anyone has any ideas.
