The auxilary fan (the one that sits forward of the radiator) has not worked in the few years I've owned my '90 740 turbo. It is getting power to the fan, so I assume the fan itself is shot. Replacements aren't cheap.
My temp guage never gets higher than about halfway in the "black" range (before the red).
We do mostly city driving.
Should I even think about this fan? What is it's purpose? I'd like to replace it so that all is right with the car, but can't spend money if it's not truly necessary.
Thanks,
mrad
