Overtdrive problem, light remains on, will not drop out of overdrive 200 1987

I have 1987 wagon and am having a new problem with my overdrive. The overdrive is on all of the time. The light remains on on the dashboard. When I push the button on the shifter I here the relay click but the light will not go off. I have checked the fluid level and everything looks ok there.

THe odd thing about this is I have two wagons, the one started doing this about 3 months ago, now the second one is doing the same. Both now have the same problem




Any thoughts as to what the problem may be.
