Interior Trim Options - Going 'Woody' 120-130

I've been looking long and hard at my disintegrating interior. My door cards are damaged masonite, held together by faded vinyl and the arms rests. The bottoms are gone on a couple, and sellers are pretty stingy about making me a deal for a new set. Additionally, my rear side panels in the wagon area are long gone. I have them, but they are only limp pieces of cardboard with some carpeting on them (but are original).

That wooden dash on eBay got me thinking about an all wood interior. I was planning to pull my door cards, strip the vinyl and stretch is over some 1/8" pannel wood and reinstalling them. However, maybe an all wood, stained and polyeurethaned interior would be better. Has anyone tried this? If done right (using grained wood with a nice golden stain), I could probably get a very nice result that would be much more solid than the old (or even new) vinyl. I haven't seen any "woody" volvos before. Has anyone ever tried this?
