Would there be any problem with running for 2 days w/o timing belt cover? 200 1986

My attempt to replace the seals on the various front engine shafts seems to have failed miserably...

now I want to do it again (to fix the leak) but I don't want to replace any seals that aren't leaking.

so what I was thinking I'd do is take off the timing belt cover... spray off the seals with Brakleen or Carb cleaner then drive a day or two and see if I can figure out which seal/seals are leaking...

am I doing something destructive with this strategy?

thanks,

jack
