Hi Everyone,
I put a new expansion valve, compressor, rec. dryer and new O rings on my '86 240 a couple of years ago. I also got a T fitting and added it on the low pressure hose that goes across the valve cover so that I could charge the system with R134a. The problem is that the a/c doesn't cool hardly at all. I have a cheap gauge that came on a can of 134a that I used to tell me how much refridgerant is in the system. The gauge is saying that the system is charged. Also, the fitting in the passenger side footwell gets cold and condensate forms on it when I run the a/c. There are no odd noises from the compressor. Someone on the board told me that the metal line on the end of the expansion valve has to be in firm contact with the other line that comes out of the evaporator, so I used a metal hose clamp to secure this line. That didn't make the system cool any better though ( assuming that I hooked the line to right pipe).
Any suggestions as to how I can get the a/c working well?
Thanks,
Dave
