Got another opportunity to pull parts from a totaled 200 (1991 130000 miles)along with the many misc. parts, I grab the AMM. This is the third 200 I have pulled parts from. After looking at the three AMM's I have sitting in a box I see a substantial difference in the Cleanliness of these units. From the exposed plastic, they all look like they've been sitting under the Hood for 12 years but looking at and through the screens on these units I see a big difference. What's the deal. This AMM I just pulled of fthis car look like it was just pulled off the Stock room shelf I mean it was amazenly clean. Yet a 1990 unit with 90000 miles had a very black screen and the inwards were dark and almost oily looking.
The only variable would be the frequency of the air cleaner changes. Why else would one get dirtier then another? They are all local vehicles.
I have never taken mine out to look at it...just going by 'running cars' that got totaled.
