On a 1991 240, What will set off the Check Engine light? I think I have a bad fuel filter, but I am not sure how this would set off the light. If the relay is bad, will it give the same sort of stumbling results as a fuel filter, but obviously set off the Check Engine light?

Can I review the codes, without a code reader?
