I have sitting in my garage a B230F engine (sort of complete) and an AW70L transmission that is out of my 1990 740GL. It is free to anyone who will come and get it out of my garage (I'll even help load it). The engine and tranny have been meticulously maintained over the years and run well and have no leaks anywhere. The particulars:
Engine: 1990 B230F, 358,000 miles, runs well, does not leak nor burn oil. The engine passed the Calif. Smog Test last year with no problems. The oil and filter have been changed religiously every 3,000 miles. It is only missing the alternator, starter motor, spark plugs, and engine to transmission bolts. (It has the power steering pump.) The engine was rebuilt at about 240,000 miles with new pistons/rings (.030 over), crank regrind, valve job, etc. The engine really didn't need rebuilding at the time as it was pristine inside (if interested I'll bore you with why I rebuilt it). The timing belt was recently replaced. All work and maintenance was done by myself and I have all records, notes, etc, including rebuild receipts.
Transmission: 1990 AW70L, 358,000 miles, works OK, no leaks. I have changed fluid and filter frequently. It has never been rebuilt and probably should have something done to it at this time (although I don't know what as it works OK).
Why is it in my garage???? I was going to rebuild the transmission in anticipation of my 15 year old son learning to drive (certain abuse here) and found one on the Internet with 90,000 miles for $150. This is cheaper than rebuilding. When I went to pick up the transmission the guy had the engine also sitting there. So I bought both for $250. Now I need to get rid of the old one and get the garage cleaned up.
Anybody interested, send me an Email at guy_p@sbcglobal.net. Otherwise it is going to the bone yard.
