If your car fails to start or even turn over as when the PNP switch fails with dirty internal contacts or a short circuit, check the two little shifter linkage plastic bushings under AT (FCPGroton P/N 666143, $0.85 each). Replace them both if they look less than perfect. If the car still will not start, remove and open the PNP switch to clean and repack it with (dialectric) grease (and perhaps reseal with a bit of silicone) as per 700/900 FAQ.
