My 1975 164 is home and running again. The auto tranny still kills the engine when put into reverse. Drive lowers the rpms to 550 from 1100 idle. If I leave the car in reverse, restart the engine (lockout sw bad), it will idle at 550! This is so strange.
Could my problem be that my injectors are so fouled up that there is no torque? The tranny shifts into 2 and 3 so smoothly, and down shifts on demand when it is supposed to. I haven't bought a timing light yet, so who knows what the timing is like. When I pulled the plug wires off starting with cyl 6, there was no noticeable drop of rpm except for cyl #2 (about 100). Compression test also not done yet.
