Speedo pooped out in Pecos 900 1993

My speedometer quit on a family vacation about a half hour ago 30 miles west of Pecos Tx.
First the cruise control went nuts and the speedo was fluctuating about 10-15mph, then it started sweeping 70-0-70, then after a bit it just quit.
I've checked the faqs, was just wondering if someone could direct me a little closer to the failure point on this to save some time ( car full of cranky kids :-) Also if anyone knows of good volvo parts source in Pecos or between here and San Antonio ?
