Noise from engine /transmission on pressing hard the acclerator

I have 1990 volvo 240 DL SW . It ia manual transmission. The vehicle runs fine but whenever I press the accelrator hard . There is a noise from below the car. the noise is as if some part is loose or a fan is hitting some body patr and is rattling hard . I have checked on every thing but nothing looks loose .
The sound comes from close to gear box .Any clues ???
