Due to some recent discussion of adding a resistor in line in order to use a 6 volt fuel gauge in a 12 volt car, I tried to bench test some of the pieces I have to figure out the best setup for my 445. I have 2 6 volt gauges, 1 12 volt, and a brand new sender bought from Volvo a few years back that reads about 20 ohms at empty and 190 ohms at full. The 6 volt gauges read about 50 ohms across the terminals if that means anything. I am using a cheapo battery charger as a power source 6 or 12 volts. The trouble is that no matter what combination of pieces I hook up, I get maybe no response initially and if I nudge the needle it will peg at full with some enthusiasm regardless of where the sender is set. I thought this would be pretty straightforward, can someone give me some help?
