Rear Axle Question 90 745T 700

Alright, climbed under the car today and power bled the brakes and drained and refilled the rear axle. My question is, what is the wire that leads into the axle housing cover?

Also is the rear end LSD or open? I saw no tags indicated LSD so I used a standard GL-5 85-90W gear oil.

As always thanks for the insight.
