Good afternoon.
I've got two valve covers with the hole for the oil breather in them, and I've noticed an interesting discrepancy. One has a metal plate below where the breather hole opens into the cover, and the other does not. On the one that has the plate, it seems to be riveted on, and on the plate-less cover, there are no mounts for the plate, although there are some strange indentations in the ridges that make me think that a plate goes there.
I was planning on using the plateless cover on my engine, since I polished it up quite nicely. Does anybody think this will present a problem? I'm not sure if my current VC has the separator plate. Also, does anybody know anything about the two different styles of VC, and why some have these plates and some don't?
Thanks,
Adrian
