Previous posts had my engine stalling when ever I put it into reverse. With the shift lock inoperative, I was able to start the car while in reverse and get out of parking places. I had thought the problem was tranny related because of a 500 rpm drop when ever D or R was selected.
The problem was a loose wire at the starter selinoid. I cleaned the dried engine oil off the clip and tightened things up and, viola, reverse works without stalling the engine!
I became very suspicious when any right hand turn would kill the engine. At first I suspected the fuel pickup line until I filled the tank and it still turned the motor off when I turned right - even at highway speeds. The BW35 allows for a push start, so that when I straightened the wheel the car came back to life.
Those problems are now history. Now I just need a good "older" mechanic to inspect the motor and tell me what else needs to be done to make it run correctly. Perhaps a 2 hour run on the highway today will help clean things out and get rid of the little nipples on the 4 new tires.
Thanks for all of your help,
Klaus
