Here's a little tale of a fun night at work.. started with my 79 245dl. Most of the Volvo part is at the bottom..

June 11, 2:30am . I work overnight at an animal hospital, alone, whle we are closed. I noticed a guy in the parking lot, so I watched him. I watched him walk up to my '79 245 and smash out the driver side window. I called 911. As I was on the phone with them, he (thinking no one was inside) started bashing in our lobby window. I told 911 I was exiting through the back door.
I did and crossed the side street and slyly watched him enter. Then one City police car came with one officer. He got out and pointed his gun at the guy (who is now inside, cop outside pointing gun through the window, too busted and shattered for the cop to enter safely, broken building window in Volvo pic's background)..Guy sees the cop ordering him to come out...says "F$ck you" and takes off further into the building. The cop now running towards me, gun drawn, both hands on it pointing it to the ground..Cop going to rear exit.
I appear, identify myself. The cop says (as he runs by)"don't go in, Yell if he comes out" So I go in, through the busted glass window.. (after I passed my smashed Volvo.. the car the BB has helped me keep going. Not much to look at, but it's all I got, fun to drive..I love it) I get real pissed. I find the guy in our treatment area, I say "freeze, get on the ground" (paradox, I know) ..yup, just like TV.. To my suprise, the guy is now face down on the ground.. All 6'3" 300lbs of him. (big guy.. I'm 6'1" 200lbs..so not THAT big in comparison) I really didn't know what to do, didn't think he'd listen. I picked up our 3ft Ketch-All "rabies pole" looped it around his neck and choked the crap out of him. Until I could hear him sound like he had sand in his throat, begging for air.
He got cut when he was breaking the builings window and was slightly bleeding.. When I looped him and tightened.. He said he was giving up and I let up on the loop enough for him to breath. (not enough to remove the loop from his head.) Bad Idea. Him now on his knees, bloody hands and chest, Gets up, his back now towards me.. grabs the loop, pulls the loop away from his adam's apple area and charges to the back door.. Dragging me "water ski" style out the back door. I had both my hands on the pole and I couldn't let go with one hand to tighten loop, (fearing I'd lose the pole -cost=$100- and the guy) so I was along for the ride.
We bursted through the back door.. Who was there? 3 City cops, (other side of the chain link fence..) guns drawn. The Burglar then says "HE'S CHOKING ME! HE'S CHOKING ME" the cop then says to him, calmly at first "get on the ground, I HAVE MY GUN POINTED AT YOU!" I un loop the guy after he got on the ground, and one cop jumped the fence to hand cuff him. I then had to go around the front of the building to get back in, rear door self locking.. as I go around the corner I see in the parking..lot 15 police cars, trucks, vans, Ford Mustangs, unmarked Pontiacs. At this point they know the guy is caught and their gaurd is down. I get asked "what the hell is the bloody pole with the noose for?" I explained and everyone busted out laughing! I got high fived and told to apply for a job.. No thanks! I go inside, insted of going right to the back door to let them in, I go to our office and grab our digicam! Snap some pics of him as they guided him through the building! Not to mention some hazy security cam footage.
The guy thought I was a cop (casual Fri-Sat jeans and a t-shirt with our logo, I have long hair in a pony tail maybe thought I was a undercover cop?)Once looped he know I wasn't a cop.
OK, the guy is charged with Burglary 1st degree, malicous destriction of property greater than $500 (two charges..one for the hospital window -$700+-, one for my Volvo -$?-) and 2nd degree assult (ON ME! HA) HE IS GETTING CHARGED... FOR ME KICKING HIS ASS! The one cop told me, being dead serious, "you should have just killed the guy." I'm not all about that. BUT, had he a gun pointed at me, I'd have killed him in a heartbeat. NO regrets. What-so-ever. Then eat a sandwich waiting for the mourge van to move his fat, dead, cold, body. no remorse. (GO Fred, GO Fred! You the man..Inspired me to share this..)
So I get to my point. Can I honestly agree to the malicious destriction of property greater than $500? Do I have a say in his charge? He may be ordered to pay restition? I can get a window at the pic'n'pull for $30-40 and install it my self? Why should I? I have 2 slipped discs and don't want to go to the muddy junkyard.. Or should I get an estimate from a dealer? My silver "window frame" is dented from the brick? Do I need a new door? or just a "window frame"? If I need a new door, will paint be paid for? How can I screw this guy? I have to say it felt great to kick his ass and choke him after I watched him bash my Volvo! The incident was listed in the "Crime Scene" section of the paper! PG.4 headline "Animal tech lassos vet clinic burglar with catch pole" (they get the reports from the police, I knew nothing about the article until it shown to me by my boss.) Funny stuff. Upon re-reading my account, I deleted my city's name..don't know why..just did. What should I do? or do nothing? I kinda feel like I made it all good by kicking his ass and choking him? any ideas? Help me out! Thanks, Franco79

P.S. Thanks to all the folks that have helped me through the last few years, sorry, I haven't been around lately.. the Volvo has been running great..! I know, I know I'm the guy that shows up when my brick is sick.....
