Loud knocking while under stress 700 1986

Engine is 230B, 4 cyl turbo.

There is clacking (knocking) noise coming
from what appears inside of intake manifold ?!
I removed the throttle body, and cleaned it of
varnish and carbon. However, I see more of it
inside the manifold. Could this be causing the
knocking ? Is it possible that there is a firing
taking place inside manifold ?
