My second 89dl starts roughly and stalls the starter at times, then runs rough with poor accel and faint preignition or detonation.

I took the throttle body off and it was pretty dirty - carbon buildup... I cleaned in lacquer thinner, removed the tpc and noticed that it was full of engine oil. I drilled a small hole in the bottom and sprayed wd40 in until it was mostly clean. I noted position of the tpc to mount and put it back in same place. Engine idled much faster and I had to reduce idle with small screw under butterfly stop with 8mm lock nut. It still starts and runs rough.

Reviewing - I've switched computers, checked timing belt and all marks. distributor will not come out and the center of the rotor bug slightly misses the mark on the wall of the distrib body when all other marks are lined up. I pulled the cps and inspected wires, they seem OK. Wiggling wires has no effect. I inspected 25amp fuse, it seems ok, wiggling and cleaning it had no effect.

Ignition is way advanced all the time at idle; timing doesn't seem to be idle speed sensitive at all. I'm looking for what to check next. thanks!
