Conversion from old style (pre-91) AC control to new style 200 1989

I'm getting tremendous pressure from my sons to fix their AC! Our '88 244GL has a bad AC control and I would like to upgrade it to the newer style blue toggle switch found on post-'90 240s.

Is this an easy conversion? Would I need to change other parts of the system (not a big deal; I now have three parts cars...)?
