740 turbo fuel injector problems 700

hi all,
my dad just recently bough me a 740 turbo volvo sedan and i've had nothing but problems.
the most recent and worst, however, is concerning the fuel injector. Sometimes while driving, when i press on the accelerator nothing happens or the entire engine shuts off. Usually this happens at a stoplight or pulling out a driveway. when the accelerator doesn't work, i have to let off completely and the engine pulls me foward. otherwise i have to pull over and wait quite some time before i can turn the engine back on.
i have been reading and it seems like the pump relay or fuse is screwy. i checked the relay and fuse and it looks fine. but im not sure if there's some other way to test it. the soldered joints look fine and all too.

help me out! i have to drive around kids i babysit soon!
