Fuse #12 keeps blowing 200 1990

Hi all. I'm driving a '90 240DL wagon (204,400 miles). It's my first Volvo and I'm really enjoying it. However, lately it's been having some electrical and mechanical issues. Where do I begin with my frustrations? My brick does not have A/C. When I got the car in 2004 the original owner had the wrong type of freon put in the car and it froze the compressor so that it no longer works...great! I never had it fixed because I'm a poor college kid. Now, fuse 12 has always been a pain..if someone touches the A/C temp switch the fuse will blow. I assume that's because the A/C compressor is broken. Fuse 12, however, continues to blow at random. One day I was driving home from work and it was at least 95 outside and the windows did not go down...I have been having this problem more and more frequently lately. I took the car to a local mechanic who I now suspect has never worked on a car like this. I told him that fuse 12 kept blowing. He ran a bunch of tests on the car and could not locate the problem. He ended up replacing the fuse with a 5 amp (as I later found out) and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Then the alternator went... I had this alternator 6 months before it went bad...grrr... When I got the car back from the shop the power windows, cruise, etc...fuse 12 was not working. I noticed that the 5 amp fuse that the mechanic installed had blown and I replaced it with an 8 amp. The windows seemed to be working normal until fuse 12 blew again the other day. I have no idea what is going on with this fuse! I'm sure it is a short but where do I begin? Has anyone had a similar problem and had it fixed? Otherwise, where can I get a gross of 8 amp fuses?

Any help is appreciated!!!!!

Ken
