When going uphill with 2 passengers, the transmission eventually starts to jump directly from 1rst to 3rd, and stays in 3rd when it should be downshifting (engine RPM bogs down to low 1000s from excessive load, and eventually shift to 2nd if left alone for a minute, or to 1rst if accel pedal is fully depressed).
The problem goes away if you turn the engine off for 5mins & restart, and presists regardless of whether the transmission is in D or 3, E or S. No warning lights, engine temp stays in midrange. Tranny behaves fine in all other situations.
Had the PNP switch replaced 3 months ago (ran fine afterwards), my mechanic took a look last week and saw no codes on the tranny nor then engine. Faulty PNP (again)? Any thoughts appreciated!
Thanks,
Olivier
