Any flexibility in ignition coil designs with a car with electronic ignition? 200 1983

I'm beginning to think I have a really unusual volvo. Can anyone tell me if the coil used on this car is pretty standard?

I'm beginning to question this. In trying to isolate a very off the wall problem I just pullout another coil to see if the original coil was the trouble. I don't think it was.

Can using a non-standard coil on this electronic ignition cause trouble?

This car is equipped with a Chrysler style distributor with a Hall-effect pickup in the distributor.
